Joan Zverina, age 83, a longtime resident of Newark DE and recently a resident of Jenners Pond retirement community in West Grove PA, passed away on July 28 after a short illness.Joan was predeceased by her son, David. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Al Zverina; her daughter Linda Zimmerman (Joe); and her granddaughters Sara Zimmerman (boyfriend, John Yox), and Aly Zimmerman (husband, Alex Tryon).Joan was born in Connecticut and moved several times as a child. She ended up in Strongsville, Ohio where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Al. After moving to Delware, Joan volunteered for various organizations including Welcome Wagon, RSVP, and Delaware Association for the Blind. Once PA became her home, she volunteered for various committees at Jenners Pond and also at Project C.U.R.E. Joan loved to bake and cook and host parties for family and friends.A special thanks to the staff of Christiana Hospital and Seasons Hospice.A Celebration of Joan's Life will take place on Saturday August 11 at 10am in the Alison Hall at Jenner's Pond Retirement Community, 2000 Greenbriar Lane West Grove PA 19390.
