Grief and the Holidays Discussion, 2023
Hi, my name is Anne Pedrick and for those of you who I have not had the opportunity to speak with on the phone, I am the bereavement coordinator at Mealey Funeral Homes. I hope you will find some comfort in this service.
The theme for my talk this year is presence. How does presence help? You may be thinking to yourself, I do not even want to be here, let alone be present. I want to be with my loved one. So, let us explore this concept. Some may call it mindfulness, but that term can be new age for some, so others may call it being in the moment.
Anne Pedrick, M.S., recently joined the Mealey Funeral Homes team in 2019 as the Bereavement Counselor and Community Liaison. She earned her graduate degree in Community Counseling at Wilmington University in 1998. She completed her graduate training under the direction of Mealey Funeral Homes’ previous grief counselor, Dr. Regina Gianonne-Tyler, at the Hospice of the Delaware Valley. In addition to working at Mealey Funeral Homes, Anne has been the Executive Director for the Child Death Review Commission since 2006. This includes offering grief support to families who have lost a child and developing strategies to prevent future child deaths. Since 2012, she has taught several courses at Wilmington University. Anne can often be found serving bereavement luncheons at her church or serving on the church leadership team. She has a heart for the hurting and a passion for mission trips. Anne is a mother and stepmother to two adult sons and resides in Newark with her husband, Allen.
