Charles F. Mealey, Jr. "Chick" President and Funeral Director, CCO

Charles F. Mealey, Jr. has been the president of Mealey Funeral Homes and Crematory since 1995 when his father retired. Chick has worked at the funeral home since he was old enough to cut grass. Similar to his father and grandfather before him, he graduated from Salesianum School in 1977. He went on to graduate from the University of Delaware in 1981, and graduated cum laude from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1983. Chick holds a Funeral Director’s License in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Chick has been on the Salesianum Alumni Board since 1988 and continues to dedicate much of his time to alumni events, fundraising, and the Annual Sports Banquet. Along with his charity work for Salesianum, Chick has volunteered for Catholic Youth Sports for many years, helping to plan their Annual CYO Golf Tournament. Continuing the tradition set by his father and grandfather, Chick continues to do charity work for the Little Sisters of the Poor, founding and managing their Annual Golf Tournament for over 15 years. Although he grew up in St. Ann’s Parish, he has been a parishioner at St. John the Beloved Church since the 1990s, where he is a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council. Chick resides in Pike Creek area with his wife, Lucy, and their dog, Fontina.

Rachel F. Mealey Acting President and Funeral Director, CCO

Rachel Mealey began working at the funeral home in 2012 and joined the staff full time in 2016. Rachel graduated from Padua Academy, magna cum laude from St. Joseph’s University, and cum laude from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Rachel is a member of St. John the Beloved Church and among other volunteer work in the parish, is a member of the parish Finance Committee. Rachel represents the 5th generation of the Mealey family to work in funeral service, following behind her father and late grandfather. Rachel resides in the Pike Creek area with her husband, Brian, and their two labrador retrievers, Lucky and Guinness.

Zachary M. Garrett Funeral Director, CCO

Zachary Garrett joined the Mealey Funeral Home team in 2017. A nephew of Chick's and Rachel’s first cousin, Zach was eager to join his family at the funeral home as a 5th generation funeral director. In addition to his responsibilities as a Funeral Director, Zach comanages the funeral home's crematory, Family Cremation Services, with his cousin, Rachel. Originally from Wilmington, Zach spent the majority of his younger years living in Florida, before moving back home to Delaware. Zach graduated from Mercer County Community College with a degree in Applied Science. In his free time, Zach is a health enthusiast and active member of the Central and Brandywine YMCA communities. He enjoys volunteering at St. John the Beloved Church, where he is a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. He lives in the Trolley Square area, and when not working, spends his free time with his two cats, Oscar and Miss Kitty.

Patrick Fischer Funeral Director, CCO

Patrick Fischer joined the Mealey Funeral Homes staff in 2019. A native of Delaware, Patrick is a graduate of the Conrad School of Science, Point Park University and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering at his home parish of St. Hedwig’s, where he is a member of their Knights of Columbus Council and a regular volunteer at the Polish Festival. In addition, he is an overly passionate Philadelphia sports team fan. Patrick resides with his family in the Boxwood addition area of Wilmington.

Bruno Casale Funeral Assistant

Bruno Casale joined the Mealey Funeral Homes team in 2010 as a Funeral Assistant. Bruno is one of the former owners of the Gerardo’s Pizza restaurant in Wilmington, DE. As Chick’s brother-in-law and Rachel's uncle, he joined the funeral home staff to support their families. You will see him assisting at funeral services, but his primary responsibility for the past decade has been the smooth running of the crematory. In his free time, Bruno loves to spend time with his three children and new grandchildren. Bruno resides in Landenberg, PA with his wife, Lisa.

Lisa Winnington Office Manager

Lisa Winnington joined Mealey Funeral Homes in 2020 as the Office Manager who supervises the day-to-day operations of the funeral home. She is often one of the first points of contact for clients calling the funeral home with questions or concerns. Prior to joining the Mealey’s team, Lisa worked for the Diocese of Wilmington in several different capacities. Aside from work, Lisa enjoys spending her free time with her fiancé, Michael, children, Carly and Casey, grandchildren and dogs.

Patti Sclesky Business Manager

Patti brings 40 years of retail and customer service experience to Mealey, where she has worked since 2022. She enjoys interacting with clients and spending time with her coworkers when she is in the office. At home, Patti spends much of her time with her husband, Kevin, and son, Collin. She also loves solving jigsaw puzzles and caring for houseplants. As a Delaware native, she enjoys taking trips to Ashland, Mount Cuba, and Winterthur. Patti holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Delaware.

Megan Graham Funeral Resident

Megan joined Mealey Funeral Homes in 2021, bringing nearly a decade of funeral industry experience to Mealey's. Megan earned her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of Delaware in 2010 and went on to continue her education at The Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. While studying at PIMS, she was the Student Senate President throughout her enrollment. At graduation, she received the Mu Sigma Alpha Award for outstanding academic efficiency, and the William J. Musmanno Award for demonstrating outstanding ability in the field. Megan is currently an active member of The New Castle Presbyterian Church in Historic Old New Castle. She enjoys attending regular services and volunteering within the church with both of her daughters,  Maisy and Monroe. Their favorite activities as a family are playing board games and spending time with their family pets.

Cathy Hennings Limestone Road Manager

Cathy joined the Mealey Funeral Homes team as our Limestone Road Manager in June, 2023. Cathy grew up in Summersville, West Virginia and after moving to Delaware, worked in banking at the former MBNA for 10 years. After leaving banking, Cathy began a career as a Preschool Teacher for over 20 years. In 2023, Cathy was ready for a change and joined administration at Mealey's. Cathy enjoys antiquing, painting, and spending time with her husband of 30 years, Mark. Cathy has two grown children, Garrett and Caitlyn, one granddaughter, Paisleigh, and two cats Bandit and Belle who keep her busy. Cathy is our guests first point of contact at our Limestone Road office and assists our funeral directors with their day-to-day tasks.

Allen Miles Funeral Assistant

Allen Miles has been working as a Funeral Assistant for the Mealey Funeral Home since 2014. Allen is a graduate of the Conrad High School and went on to work at General Motors in material and assembly for 32 years until his retirement. After realizing that retirement wasn’t really for him, Allen joined the Mealey team as a Funeral Assistant. In his free time, Allen loves to go hunting and fishing, and can often be found working on various projects. Allen resides in Middletown with his wife Sharon, and loves to spend time with his three children and 5 grandchildren.

Jim McBride Funeral Assistant

Jim is a lifelong resident of Delaware. He is a graduate of Salesianum School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Wilmington University. Jim is a former owner of Burns & McBride Home Comfort where he worked for 34 years alongside his father and two brothers. Following his retirement, Jim joined the Mealey team as a Funeral Assistant after looking for something to do in his newly found free time. In addition to his professional achievements, Jim is an active member of Brandywine Hundred Rotary and enjoys volunteering at both Limen House and Old Swedes Church. Jim resides in Wilmington with his wife Beth and enjoys free time with his three grown children and their families.

Anne Pedrick, M.S.

Anne Pedrick, M.S., recently joined the Mealey Funeral Homes team in 2019 as the Bereavement Counselor and Community Liaison. She earned her graduate degree in Community Counseling at Wilmington University in 1998. She completed her graduate training under the direction of Mealey Funeral Homes’ previous grief counselor, Dr. Regina Gianonne-Tyler, at the Hospice of the Delaware Valley. In addition to working at Mealey Funeral Homes, Anne has been the Executive Director for the Child Death Review Commission since 2006. This includes offering grief support to families who have lost a child and developing strategies to prevent future child deaths. Since 2012, she has taught several courses at Wilmington University. Anne can often be found serving bereavement luncheons at her church or serving on the church leadership team. She has a heart for the hurting and a passion for mission trips. Anne is a mother and stepmother to two adult sons and resides in Newark with her husband, Allen.
