William T.
Scott, Jr.
May 18, 1940 – November 29, 2025
William T. Scott, Jr., 85, of Hockessin, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025. A devoted husband, father, and friend, Bill lived a life marked by faith, service, and an unwavering kindness that touched all who knew him.
Born with a gentle spirit and a strong sense of purpose, Bill dedicated his entire professional career to duPont, where he was respected not only for his work ethic but also for the integrity and warmth he brought to every endeavor. Outside of his career, he found deep fulfillment in his active membership in Armstrong Lodge #28, where he forged lifelong bonds and contributed passionately to its traditions and mission. Also active in the Boy Scouts of America (an Eagle Scout during his youth and always active in his son's participation), Bill could build anything (model train layouts and boats), fix anything and solve problems with ease. Bill also served in the Delaware Air National Guard during 1960 - 1962.
Bill's love of the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for canoeing and boating as well as his love of time with Judy at their water-facing properties. Equally important to him was his steadfast support of the churches he belonged to and volunteer efforts, reflecting his abiding faith and his belief in community and service.
Above all, Bill cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Judith B. Scott of Hockessin, Delaware; his son, William T. Scott, III of Landenberg, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Susan A. Scott of Newark, Delaware; and many extended family members who were blessed by his love, humor, and guidance. Notable was Bill's dedicated support of Susan and to his parents as they progressed through life.
Always the consummate gentleman, Bill will be remembered for his deep commitment to his faith and family, and for his abiding desire to do good toward his fellow man. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he enriched with grace, compassion, and quiet strength.
