Obituary

William Denis Pugh "Bill," age 73, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Bill was born in Wilmington, DE, son of the late Flora Margaret (Jones) and Charles Stokes Pugh, Sr. Bill graduated from Oxford Area High School and received his bachelor's degree from Haverford College in 1974. Bill was an avid guitar player and enjoyed listening to and performing folk music. Bill dedicated his professional life to planning and facilitating capital campaigns for many worthy nonprofits and the fruits of those campaigns will live on for generations in continued public service. Always involved in the community, he was an Executive Director and Consultant for numerous nonprofit organizations until his retirement, including over 10 years at the Southern Chester County Development Foundation. Bill also spent time working for MacIntyre Associates from 1999-2011, and founded and operated William Pugh Associates. In his free time, Bill enjoyed taking day trips with his wife Wendy to Lancaster County or the Chesapeake Bay and discussing philosophy and religion with close friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother, Charles Pugh, Jr. (Carol). Bill is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Gainor Pugh; children, Lindsey Sweet (Joshua), Evan Crouch (Caitlin), and Graham Pugh (Emily); his former wife and the mother of their three children, Steffi Pugh; grandchildren, Asher Sweet, Gabriel Sweet, Ellis Pugh, Harrison Pugh, H. Cashel Crouch, Macsen Crouch, and Eleri Crouch; brothers, David Pugh (Linda) and Glenn Cashel (Isabel); sister, Leslie Cashel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends all of whom he loved.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately.
