William "Bill" K. Jayaraj, age 85 of New Castle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday May 19, 2023.

Bill was born in Rajahmundry, India. Son of late Deena Grace (Luke) and Phillip Lazaras. He moved to the United States in 1964 as a foreign exchange student. Bill attended North Carolina Central University (Bachelors in Nursing), Wilmington College (Masters in Business Administration), and Kennedy Western (PhD in Health Administration). He worked at Christiana Care and St. Francis Hospital as a CRNA, as well as quite a few other hospitals. Bill was a member of the Delaware Nurses Association and American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He was also a proud member of the American Heart Association and worked as a CPR trainer and educator. Bill loved what he did and was able to teach many people lifesaving skills. Bill was loved and well respected by everyone he knew and worked with. Bill wanted to express great gratitude to both Beverlee Truszcienski and Michael J Browne for all their support through the years.

Bill is survived by his brother, Samuel Manoranjan in India; sister, Suseela Martin and her husband/his good friend Reginald Martin; niece Laura Martin Cook, her husband Austin Cook and their 3 daughters; and numerous close family friends whom he all loved.

His family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those that knew and worked with him.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately. Bill also requested that no flowers or sympathy cards be sent.
