Age 54, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at his residence with his mom and girlfriend by his side on Thursday, October 30, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.Born in Wilmington, Walter was the son of Jenna Mae Jackson Foster and the late Walter (Lefty) W. Foster, Sr. He was a 1977 graduate of John Dickinson High School and attended Goldey Beacom College. He was the general manager of National Decorative Distributors where he worked for 27 years before his illness. For 21 years, he played softball with his friends in various New Castle County leagues and was a perennial all-star. He also enjoyed golfing, skiing, bowling, and boating on the Rehoboth Bay. On Friday nights he loved heading to his beach house, where he would unwind with a Long Island Ice Tea or two.Walt will be dearly missed by his mother, Jenna Mae Foster of Wilmington; his girlfriend, Terri Fitzgerald of Newark; and a multitude of family and friends. They would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Michael Guarino and his staff and to Delaware Hospice for their extraordinary professional and compassionate care.Friends and family are invited to visitation on Tuesday, November 4th between 11 AM and 12 noon at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where funeral services will begin at 12 noon.
