W. Michael Schietke, age 59, of Bear, DE, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Michael was born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, son of Eva Marie (Olawski) and the late Wolfgang Karl Schietke. Michael graduated from Newark High School and went on to work at JP Morgan Chase, where he achieved the role as manager. Michael was a very active man who enjoyed going to the gym and shooting hoops with his friends. In his free time, Michael loved cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles and going to Rehoboth Beach. He also loved playing card games and hanging out with his friends. Mike was the life of any family gathering or summertime BBQ. One thing about Michael, he never met a stranger. He was known for his loud & friendly joking demeanor and always had something funny to say. Mike enjoyed traveling, and lived life to the fullest every day. So, to all that know and love him, "SECURITY" has left the building, but he will always and forever be within our hearts.

In addition to his father, Michael was predeceased by his sister, Denise Schlup.

Michael is survived by his mother, Eva Marie Schietke; sister, Angelika Smith; daughter, Sharon Gregory; grandchildren, Kiara and Kylee Gregory; stepsons, Ayden Richards Powell, Xavier Richards Powell, and Nicholos Richards; best friend, Dora Irwin; and numerous close family friends whom he all loved.

A visitation for Michael will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 10:30-11:30am, with a memorial service following at 11:30am. Burial will be held privately.
