Age 75, of Newark, DE, passed away at her home on Sunday, February 12, 2017.Born in Philadelphia, PA, Virginia was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Hilda Virginia (Schaefer) McLitus. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware and was a graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a pediatric nurse for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and later, an Education Nurse at the former Wilmington Hospital. She retired as Assistant Director of Nursing from the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, DE. Ginny loved all animals, "even hermit crabs"; she was an avid snow skier and snorkeler. Virginia is survived by her cousins Joan Schaefer of Broomall, PA and Robert Schaefer of Ocean City, MD and close friends Barbara Viera and Ann Dyson.Services are private. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
