Obituary

Valeria Ann Rowan (age 74) of Newark, Delaware, passed away April 13, 2026, with her beloved husband holding her hand. Her family and friends surrounded her with love and memories in the days before her death.

Valeria was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Mary Olivia "Polly" (Symonds) and Russell Veasey. Valeria graduated from Mckean High School and earned her Bachelor of Science from Goldey Beacom. Valeria went on to work in the IT department for Axalta, DuPont, and eventually retired from CSC. In her free time, Valeria enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, traveling to the Florida Keys, and rooting on her beloved Philadelphia Phillies. Nothing meant more to Valeria than her family, and she cherished every moment she spent with her grandchildren.

Valeria is survived by her loving husband of nearly 56 years, Thomas Rowan; daughter, Patricia (Steven) Poulos; son, Patrick (Jen) Rowan; grandchildren, Christopher Poulos, Andrew Poulos, Katie Rowan, Kelly Rowan, Kylie Rowan; step grandchildren, Lauren Gonzalez and Chris Gonzalez; brothers, Clint Veasey and Micheal Veasey; sister, Susan Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends all of whom she loved.

Her family would like to additionally thank Thom's sister, Jane White, and family friend, Beverly Huth, for their unwavering support in these last couple of weeks.

A visitation for Valeria will be held on Friday, April 24th, at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 15 Gender Rd, Newark, DE 19713, where friends and family may call from 11:00-12:00, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 12 PM. Burial will be private.
