In Loving Memory of Thora Anne Medlin Hoffmann Zonsa
March 7, 1947 - September 26, 2025

Thora Anne Medlin Hoffmann Zonsa, a devoted mother, wife, and cherished friend, joined our Lord in Glory on September 26, 2025. Born on March 7, 1947, Thora lived a life marked by compassion, resilience, and faith.

She was born in Manhattan, NY to Ruth (Jeffcott) and Everett O. Medlin.  She was predeceased by her second husband, Michael Zonsa, and is survived by her former husband Bruce Hoffmann (spouse Adeline Hoffmann), and their three children: Donna Casey (spouse Jim Casey; children Danielle Sawyer, Thomas Fuerst, and James Casey), Nick Hoffmann (spouse Deana Hoffmann; children Kayla DeBello-Hoffmann and Willa Hoffmann), and Laurelanne Hise (Partner Jim West, children Catherine Hise and Amanda Hise).

Thora's journey was one of dedication and love. While raising her children, she courageously returned to school to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. After graduating, she served at Nassau Hospital in Mineola, NY, and later joined American Airlines as a nurse in the employee medical department, where she found joy in caring for others and the blessing of travel. Even in retirement, Thora continued her calling by providing home care to a disabled woman, working night shifts with grace and compassion.

Thora's love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. She found great joy singing in church choirs, and her faith was a guiding light to all who knew her. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, especially during holiday gatherings filled with warmth, laughter, and delicious meals. Her generosity of heart and spirit touched everyone she met.

Thora had a deep and abiding love for Montauk and the beach. The ocean brought her peace and joy, and she shared that love with her children, creating cherished memories along the shore. She also had a delightful passion for penguins-drawn to their charm and grace, they became a symbol of her playful spirit and gentle heart.

"Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her."
- Proverbs 31:28
"Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord."
- Matthew 25:21

Thora's legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured, the love she gave, and the faith she shared. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.  Funeral services will held privately.
