Obituary

Thomas J. Moran, 94 of Newark passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023. Tom was born in Wilmington to the late Mary (Connolly) and Thomas A. Moran. He was a 1946 graduate of Salesianum School where he was an excellent athlete participating in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Tom served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Tom worked at Dupont Experimental Station as a research technician, retiring in 1985.

Tom really loved his family spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He spent much of that time going to his second home in Rehoboth Beach. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the DuPont Country Club where he was proud to make a hole in one. Tom and Dorrie loved traveling and were snowbirds in Florida.

Tom is survived by his wife of 71 years Dorrie (Ritchie) Moran, his four children:  Linda Barnes (Kevin), Susan Fouraker (Charles), Patricia Brown (James) and son Thomas as well as his 6 grandchildren which include:  Stacey Wiley (Jason), Jennifer Fisher (Jeff), Sheila Hazlett (D.J.), David DiCostanza (Lillian), Charles Fouraker (Megan) and Ashley Peake (Allen). He had 11 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 19th at 11:00 at St. John the Beloved, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where visitation will begin at 10:00. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. John the Beloved or Salesianum School, 1801 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19802.
