Thomas H. Markward, age 68, of Claymont, DE, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Thomas was born in Wilmington, son of the late Helen (Russell) and Charles Markward. Thomas graduated from St. Marks High School and went on to become a chef at the Holiday Inn, Embassy Suites, and the Double Tree until his retirement. In his free time, Thomas was quite the handyman and loved the challenge of fixing things. Thomas was also the "unofficial mayor" of Northridge, as he was always sitting outside his house and talking with all his friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, Thomas was also predeceased brother, Garrett Markward; and son, Alexander Markward.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Marianne Markward; daughter, Jennifer Markward; son, Thomas Markward Jr.; stepdaughter, Jessica Maxwell; stepson, Jade Hughes; grandchildren, Tatiana Markward, Aubrey Lewis, Leland Maxwell, and Ella Maxwell; brother, Charles Markward Jr; sister, Susan Fitzwater; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom he all loved.

A visitation for Thomas will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 3-4pm, with a memorial service following at 4pm. Burial will be held privately.
