Age 85, of West Grove, PA, formerly of Hockessin, passed away peacefully at his residence at Jenner's Pond on Sunday, November 22, 2015. Born in Grand Rapids, MI, Thomas was the son of the late Carl H. and Bertha (Jannausch) Bissot. He received his B.S. degree from Aquinas College, then attained his masters and doctoral degrees in chemistry from the University of Michigan. After graduation, he worked for DuPont, starting at Niagara Falls, then transferring to the Wilmington Experimental Station; for a total tenure of 34 years. During his career, he earned the title of Senior Research Fellow and was issued 21 patents. Thomas was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a former member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. In retirement, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for 20 years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Bissot, and his sister, Barbara Bissot. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Virginia (Wojtulewicz) Bissot; seven children and their spouses, Karen and Michael Morrow of Buffalo, NY; Steven and Elizabeth Bissot of Cranehill, AL; David and Katheen Bissot of Henryville, PA; Mary Ellen and C.J. "Jerry" Miller of Landenberg, PA; Charles and Ruth Bissot of Hummelstown, PA; Diane and Brian Gray of Landenberg, PA; and Maureen Bissot and Enrique of Casselburg, FL; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Rev. Robert Bissot of Ussingette, MI and his sister, Carol Butler of Cincinnati, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 27th at 1 p.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE where friends and family are invited to visitation after 11 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Ashland, DE.
