Obituary

Peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, Thursday, the 28th of November 2024, the former Theresa Marie Dineen, wife of the late Edward J. Meren, passed away.

Native to Wilmington Delaware, born the 26th of March 1927 a daughter of Denis and Ada (Walling) Dineen, she was reared along with sisters Elizabeth and Dorothy. She joined her beloved Ed, in Holy Matrimony in the Cathedral of St. Peter, the 15th of September 1951.

A graduate of St. Peter's Parochial School and the Wilmington High School, she knew a distinguished career of 40 years with the DuPont Company. Following her retirement, she was a part-time associate, for several years, with the Wilmington Trust Company. Proud of her Irish heritage, as an active member of the New Castle County Irish Society, she was known, along with her sister Dot, for her talent as an Irish set dancer.

She relished her time with daughters, sons, and grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout the US and many countries abroad.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Monica Stingel and sister Elizabeth Lutz.

Mrs. Meren is survived by her sister Dorothy Dineen King, daughters and sons, Kathleen, Edward, Jr. (Mary Lu), Mark, Linda Malmberg (Reg), Nancy, and Michael (Colleen); grandchildren Kathleen (Ryan), Dennis, Timothy, Alexis, Connor, Michael, Kelly, and Addison; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday morning, the 7th of December 2024, eleven o'clock, in the Roman Catholic Church of Corpus Christi, 901 New Road, Wilmington, Delaware,19805.

Family will receive friends and relations in the church commencing one hour prior to Mass.
