Age 67 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully in Heartland Hospice House surrounded by his loving family on Friday, July 1, 2016. Born in Baltimore, MD to Sonia Hoover and the late John Hoover. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Steve then attended Goldey Beacom College and earned his Associates Degree in Business Management. He worked for W.L. Gore & Associates for 28 years as a machinist and engineer. After leaving W.L. Gore, Steve worked with his son-in-law at New Garden Collision in Avondale, PA. Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He also enjoyed surf fishing, deep sea fishing, vacationing in the Outer Banks, and rebuilding cars, in particular his 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Cornelia Wright Hoover, his two daughters and sons-in-law: Kim & Ashley Ritter of Bear, DE and Cathy & Dominic Manfredini of Hampstead, NC; three granddaughters: Julianna, Elizabeth, and Savanna; two brothers: Michael and Bruce (Jan) Hoover; one sister: Carol (George) Balabushka; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, John Hoover Jr. Funeral service will be held at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Monday, July 11 at 12:30 PM where a visitation with family will be held at 11:30AM. Interment will immediately follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
