Pienkos, Jr.
March 23, 1951 – January 3, 2024
Stanley "Stan" Frank Pienkos Jr., age 72, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
Stan was born in Wilmington, son of the late Mary Lou (Reese) and Stanley Frank Pienkos Sr. After High School, he went on to serve our nation honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. Stan was a proud Marine, being part of the First Force Recon and serving in Vietnam. He was awarded numerous Military medals and particularly the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V" and helped build an orphanage while in Vietnam. After returning home from the service, he enlisted in the Delaware Army National Guard and served as a Recruiter and was awarded Chief's 50 award for top recruiter. Stan also worked as a master carpenter and owned his own construction company, Pienkos and Son. In his free time, he loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Stan was also predeceased by his son, Matthew Joseph Pienkos.
Stan is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Paula D. Pienkos; daughters Amanda Pienkos and husband Richard Chong, and Sherri Hawkins and her husband Kevin Hawkins; grandchildren, Joseph E.P. Hawkins, Kylie-Pienkos-Chong, Harper Pienkos-Chong, Sarah Pienkos and Lily Pienkos; brother Kenneth Pienkos; sister, Dianne Vander Weyden; and his nephew Christopher Greenwell; and numerous close family and friends whom he loved.
A visitation for Stan will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 1-2pm, with a memorial service following at 2pm. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Stan's name to the VFW-Veterans of Foreign Wars or the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
