Sr. Vincent Schroeder was born in New Castle, DE to Agnes (Tidwell) and Frederick Schroeder on August 8, 1935. She attended St. Peter Cathedral School and St. Elizabeth High School. She entered the Benedictine Sisters of Ridgely, Maryland in 1956.

She earned a B.A. in Educational Psychology from Seton Hall University and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Delaware.

She spent fifty years ministering in Catholic Education. For the first twelve years, she taught primary grades at Our Lady of Fatima, St. Edmonds, St. Elizabeth Elementary, Sacred Heart, and St. Mary's in New Jersey. In her later "years", she taught Theology and Psychology for 40+years in St. Elizabeth High School while also serving as librarian and manager of Christmas extravaganza.

She loved all God's animals and cared for stray and homeless creatures! She enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles, and meeting strangers as friends.

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother Frederick and half-brother, Paul Schroeder. In addition to her Benedictine Sisters, she is survived by a nephew, two nieces, cousins, and great nephews and nieces.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8 at 9:30-11:00 with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713 at 11am. Burial will take place at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Ridgely, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations are recommended to the Benedictine Sisters at 25 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713.
