Sr. Ann
Miller, Osb
September 9, 1925 – December 5, 2022
Born on September 9, 1925, Sister Ann (Theresa Miller) was the daughter of the late Florence Kernan and Stephen Miller. She was educated at St. Gertrude's Academy, Ridgely, MD, before entering the Benedictine Sisters on July 26, 1943. She went on to earn a BA degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange, a MA as a Reading Specialist from Cardinal Stritch College in Wisconsin. She also received post-graduate certification to teach Special Education from the same institution.
She spent 22 years teaching in various schools staffed by the Benedictine Sisters. In 1973 she returned to Ridgely to teach in The Benedictine School for Exceptional Children and considered it a privilege to serve developmentally-disabled children for 25 years.
In 1998 Sister Ann returned to the monastery and ministered as the coordinator of the St. Hildegarde Wing, the guest wing of the monastery.
Now fully retired, she enjoyed reading, listening to music and card playing. However, her greatest passion was taking long drives.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Stephen. Several great nieces and nephews and her Benedictine Sisters survive her.
A visitation will be held on Friday December 9th from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 15 Gender Rd, Newark, DE 19713. Burial will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Ridgley, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations are recommended to the Benedictine Sisters at 25 Gender Rd, Newark, DE 19713.
