Sonya W. Wolfe, age 90, of Wilmington DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Sonya was born in Port Henry, NY, daughter of the late Elizabeth (Canning) and George Warner. Sonya  graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The College of William & Mary, then obtained her masters degree in organic chemistry from UC Berkeley. Her research on tissue cultures was published in several medical journals.

She met the love of her life in Berkeley and was married there on June 10, 1957. Sonya was a wonderful mother who raised three boys with her husband all the while working as a teacher at numerous schools in New Castle County.

Sonya had many hobbies and passions in her life. She loved to read, solve crossword puzzles, create needlework, and collect minerals and Irish Belleek pottery. Above all, Sonya's husband and children were her true passions. In addition to her parents, Sonya is predeceased by granddaughter Heather and nephew Joseph.

Sonya is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Dr. James R. Wolfe, Jr.; sons Michael (Linda), David (Susan) and Daniel Wolfe; grandchildren James, Joseph, Zack, Amanda (Ryan), Sabrina and Alexandra; brother Frederic Warner (DeLores); nephew Frederic Warner and niece Shannon Guinther.

Funeral services for Sonya will be held privately.
