Sharon M. Ash, age 73, of Townsend, DE, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
Sharon was born in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Marie (Woerner) and Aaron Souder. She graduated from St. Peter's High School and went on to work beside her husband at their family business, Ash's Equipment Rental. Sharon enjoyed shopping, especially from home on QVC and she was a very good cook. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharon had a love of horses that arose from her Daddy. She had a love of celebrating holidays with her family, decorating and gift giving. Sharon had a gifted hobby of ceramics and a passionate love of spending money on jewelry. Sharon always had a sweet tooth that went right along with her sweet heart. She will be dearly missed by those closest to her.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Franklin Ash; her children, Richard Ash, Bernadette Ash (Leonard Root), and Bonnie Currinder (Clifford); grandchildren, Kayla (Kyle Wolff), Angel and RJ Ash, Travis Root (Kiley Rively), and Vaughn (Riley) and Ashton Currinder; great-grandchildren, Michael, Ava, Christopher, Karlee, Juliun, Taylor, and Gemma; and siblings, Sue Burns (Tim), Rob Souder (Valerie), and Ronald Souder (Elissa).
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Mealey Funeral Homes, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, from 10:30AM to 12:00PM with a service beginning at 12:00PM. Burial will follow at Old Drawyers Cemetery in Odessa, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Sharon's name to EQUUS Foundation. The EQUUS Foundation is the only national animal welfare charity in the United States that is 100% dedicated to safeguarding the comfort and dignity of America's horses throughout their lives while sharing their magic and power with as many people as possible.
