Selma S. Glancey, 97, died Tuesday, 10 February 2026 at Cokesbury Village.
Selma was the widow of John H. Glancey, Jr., whom she married on 25 June 1949. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Delaware with her husband in 1951. They lived in Chelsea Estates, on McKennan's Church Road, and in Westgate Farms. After her husband's death, Selma moved to Cokesbury Village.
Selma worked as a secretary until the birth of her children. When her 2 children were in high school she was the instructor of 4-year-olds at Merrie Moppets Nursery School for several years. She was also an active member of Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included sewing, needlework, reading, art, and playing bridge. Selma also remained in contact with several childhood friends who met several times a year to visit and keep in contact with each other. They called the group their sorority, Sigma Gamma Fooey.
Survivors: Daughter, LeeAnn Dean (Gary); son, John H., III (Maggie Gall); granddaughters Jacqui Dean Lonsinger (Eric), Ashley Dean Gingher (William), and Rebecca Gall; grandson Joseph Gall; and four great-grandchildren Sadie and Cole Lonsinger; Jack and Liam Gingher.
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, 12 March 2026, Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear, DE.
