It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Scott Raymond Duncan, age 52, on August 19, 2026, following an illness.
Scott was born on July 18, 1974, in Wilmington, Delaware. He was a graduate of Delaware Valley High School in Milford, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, he proudly answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. Most recently, Scott was happily employed by the University of Delaware in the Grounds Department, where he was, without a doubt, the undisputed overtime king.
Scott was deeply proud of his Irish, Scottish, and Native American heritage. He was a proud citizen and cardholder of the Cherokee Nation. He was a lifelong Phillies and Raiders fan, through thick and thin.
His home was his castle and kingdom, and his happiest place was right there with his best friend Andie. Whether he was tending to his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, enjoying the wildlife feeding area he created, grilling, relaxing by a fire, or playing with his beloved dogs, Scott simply loved just being home.
Those who knew Scott will remember his unique personality, his strength, his humor, and the love he had for the people who meant the most to him. He was a beloved family member and friend whose presence touched the lives of many.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Duncan. He leaves behind his mother, Colleen “Kay” Duncan; his lifelong partner, Andrea Valentine; stepsons Christopher Valentine (Shelby) and Michael Valentine; siblings Heather Watson and Siobain Malandruccolo; and his nieces and nephews, who were also his godchildren: Logan Malandruccolo (Emily), Garrett Malandruccolo, CPL Ryan Ice (Joy), and Haleigh Ice.
Scott was a proud Grumpa to Ford Valentine and was lovingly awaiting the birth of his second grandchild. He was also a cherished great-uncle to Jason Malandruccolo. He will be greatly missed by his many cousins and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00A.M to celebrate Scott’s life, honor his memory, and share the stories and memories that made him who he was. Family and friends are invited to gather starting at 10:00A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delaware SPCA or Delaware Humane association in Scott’s memory.
