Obituary

Sandra Ann Stevenson passed away on January 11th, 2025, at the age of 83.

Sandy was born in Montreal Canada on October 19, 1941. She was the daughter of James and Celina McKenzie. Sandy was a teenager when her family moved to Wilmington DE.

She was working the lunch counter at Woolworths when a handsome stock boy caught her eye. Thus began a love to last a lifetime and beyond. Sandy married Thomas in 1959. During their 65 year marriage they built a home raising two children. Their marriage was a testament to the promise of love through sickness and in health. Side by side they shared all that life presented.

Sandy worked in retail and found her niche in hardware. Her knowledge of tools and home repair was impressive. Later she spent her time babysitting for family from her home where she often received requests for ASID with lunch (Aunt Sandy's Iced Tea). She enjoyed cooking, baking, long rides and camping. Her favorite spot being Trap Pond State park. In her later years she could usually be found sitting on her couch with her dog Lady by her side cheering for her favorite teams. Sandy was a sports fan and enjoyed watching most any sport, but her favorite was hockey. She loved the Philadelphia Flyers.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents, her brother Bruce McKenzie, and her granddaughters Candace Stevenson and Lauren Stevenson.

She will be missed in life by her husband Thomas Stevenson, son Thomas Stevenson Jr (Patricia), daughter Cheryl Stevenson (Jay Pleasanton), sister Barbara Hull, and grandson Thomas Stevenson III (Amber) and great granddaughter Yvonne.

A visitation for Sandy will be held on Saturday January 25, 2025, where family and friends can call from 10-11 am with a memorial service following at 11 am. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Faithful Friends Animal Society, 165 Airport Rd, New Castle, DE 19720 (Faithfulfriends.us)
