Obituary

Roger Dale Willey, 85, of Wilmington, DE passed away on August 2, 2018, after his 4th battle with cancer. Born in Iowa on June 5, l933, he was the son of the late H. Duane and Bernice (Fausnaugh) Willey.He is survived by his caring wife of 27 years, Gloria Ann; children Robin Oberto of Lexington, KY; Jeff (Debbie) of Windsor, NJ; Scott of Jupiter, FL; Rick (Lisa) of Woodstock, GA; sisters Sue Brelsford of Des Moines, IA; Pat Humphrey of Rowlett, TX. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Matthew, Michelle, Stephen, Emily and April.Roger grew up in Michigan, spending his summers at the family cottage in Spirit Lake, IA. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High and Western Michigan University. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in North Africa. His career in the petroleum industry began with Marathon Oil in Ohio, after which he held positions with Ashland Oil in KY; Ryder Systems in FL and Rollins Truck Leasing (Penske) in Wilmington.He enjoyed golf, tennis and sailing. After retiring, Roger authored two books, "The Trials of Erin Hays" and "A Way Through the Storm." He also was a volunteer at Longwood Gardens.Interment will be private.
