Robert Andrew Shakespeare, 82 of Wilmington passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Wilmington Hospital.
Robert was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Ruth (Lambert) and Andrew Shakespeare. He graduated from A.I. DuPont High School and worked for 46 years for Diamond State Telephone and Verizon. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Steven.
Otherwise known as Bob or "Shakey", he never missed a family birthday, an opportunity to tell a joke or help those he cared about. Bob was a serious car enthusiast. He was well known for driving his Mazda 6 vehicles over 250k miles or more. Prior to that he cherished his 1930 Model 'A', Porsche's, Corvette's, Chevelle's and even VW Bugs direct from Germany just to name a few. Bob was known for calling his family a few times a week to make sure everyone and everything was well. He never lost touch, even up to the last days and minutes asking if everything was okay with everyone. Bob was a peaceful soul and loved his family and friends often more than himself!
Robert is survived by his sons and their wives, Christopher from Newport Beach, CA, David and Lisa of Middletown, DE. and Aaron and Rebecca of Elkridge, MD. He was exceptionally proud of all his grandchildren; Austin, Trevor, Cayden, Colin, Aidan, Bailey and McKenzie and nieces and nephews.
