Obituary

Robert "Bob" Peter Mitchell, 74, of Newark, Delaware passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024.

Bob was born on March 15, 1950 to the late Marion and George Mitchell in Glendale, New York. He was raised by his parents and Aunt Teresa "Yo" Feldhaus in Pearl River, New York with his three siblings: Pat, Donna, and Cheryl. Bob attended Albertus Magnus High School from 1964 to 1968. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1973.

Bob was a great athlete in his younger days. He was a star high school baseball player and enjoyed a long career as an amateur softball player after college. The lefty power hitter played first base and once hit four home runs in a single game.

Bob had a long, successful career as a VP of Sales & Marketing. In 1989, he met his future wife Barbara while they were both working at Media Materials, Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland. He always said it was love at first sight. He wasted no time before he married his best friend just a year later on July 28, 1990 and began to build their life together.

Bob and Barbara spent their first 27 years of marriage raising a family of 7 children and building a successful publishing company, Mitchell Lane Publishers, Inc. They retired together in 2017 to spend their time traveling the world and spoiling their 7 grandchildren.

Bob loved his family more than anything in the world. He never let a day go by without reminding his wife and kids how much he loved them and how proud he was of everything they had accomplished. He was a true role model for his kids on how to build a successful career, family, and marriage.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Marion and George Mitchell, Aunt Teresa Feldhaus, and son Michael Mitchell. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Barbara Mitchell; his children and their spouses: Chris and Megan Mitchell, Jamie and Richard Lapsley, Stephanie Kondrchek, Stacey and Jeromy Cordeiro, Robbie Mitchell, and Randy and Cassidy Mitchell; his grandchildren: Abby Lapsley, Liam Lapsley, Rylie Bahnsen, Mason Mitchell, Bryson Mitchell, Ryder Cordeiro, and Colson Mitchell; and his siblings: Pat Mitchell, Donna Badura, and Cheryl McNulty.
