Robert E. Oat, age 75, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Robert was born in Wilmington, son of the late Laura (Robinson) and Emmett A. Oat. Robert graduated from Conrad High School and went on to work at and eventually run the family business, Emmett A. Oat Contracting. Robert loved spending time at his beach house on Rehoboth Bay with family and friends. He also enjoyed watching western movies, listening to Jimmy Buffet, and visiting Clearwater Beach in Florida. In addition to his parents, Robert was also predeceased by his loving wife, Donna Reno Oat.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Carrie Oat Simmons (Mike); grandson, Colin Jordan; sister, Ellen Robinson; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom he all loved.

A visitation for Robert will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 10-11:30am, with a celebration of life following at 11:30am. Burial will be held privately.
