Age 80, of New Castle, DE, passed away after a short stay in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wilmington, DE on Saturday, December 5. Born in Yorklyn, DE, he was the youngest son of the late Joseph T. and Marjorie Haggerty Johnson. Preceded in death were his brothers, Roger, Raymond, Donald and Leonard. Bob served in the U.S Navy from April 9, 1952 to January 17, 1956 when he was honorably discharged. Bob worked at Goodwill Industries for several years and worked at Sears for 16 years as the manager of the service contract department. Most recently he worked for the Amaco on Route 40 as a manager. Bob was an avid sports enthusiast. Many weekends were spent cheering on the Phillies and the Eagles regardless as to how they were playing. He enjoyed going to the senior center and playing Bingo with his friends. In addition to loving his family, Bob loved his 1989 Chevy Camaro. He enjoyed many sunny days just taking it for a ride. Bob is survived by his wife Eris Kimmey Johnson with whom he shared over 61 years of marriage. Also surviving are his children: R. Bruce Johnson of Middletown, DE; Diane Koehler and her husband Jeffrey of New Castle, DE; David Johnson and his wife Robin of Townsend, DE; and Keith Johnson of Wilmington, DE; and his 7 grandchildren, Paul, Brad and Evan Koehler, David, Steven, Erik and Jessica Johnson; and a niece Kathleen J. Caudill and her husband Douglas of Hockessin, DE. His furry companion, Lexy, will miss him too.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 801 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720 on Thursday, December 10th at 11 am where a visitation for family and friends will be held beginning at 10 am.
