Robert Patrick Ellis, Jr. age 49 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 4, 2018.Born April 29, 1969 in Salem, New Jersey to his parents Robert P. Ellis, Sr. and Margaret Wiggins Lyster; Robert was a 1987 graduate of Salem High School (NJ) and had served in the U. S. Army. Robbie graduated from Delaware Technical and Community College with a degree in Hospitality Management.Robert was a well-known bartender and waiter in the Wilmington "Little Italy" area restaurants. Robbie was known for his love of the beach, being an Eagles Fan, loved cooking and had co-hosted "Friendsgiving" for the past several years. Robert loved his dogs, the late Zion and his new puppy Jameson. He was a strong supporter of local HIV programs and was a local drag performer under the name of Ivana Jameson. He was predeceased by his former partner, Roland Williams and all of his grandparents. He is survived by his father, Robert P. Ellis, Sr., husband of Sandy; his mother, Margie Lyster, wife of Tom; his sister, Catherine Ellis; his two brothers, Edward and Andrew Ellis; his five step brothers, Joshua, David, Michael, Isiah and Andre Ellis; all of Penns Grove, New Jersey; his step brother, Brandon Rector, husband of Ashley of West Grove, Pa., his aunts, Jackie Strickler of Florida and Betty Lamont of Pennsville, NJ; his nieces and nephews and his roommate, Becca Vernon. Robert will be great missed by his many and dear friends in Wilmington and the GLBT community.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Mealey Funeral Homes, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 where friends and family may gather at 1pm. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. At the family's request and to honor Robert's colorful journey in life, all guests are asked to wear bright and colorful attire, no black or dark colors at the service.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist in the funeral arrangements in care of Crimson Moon Tavern 1909 West Sixth Street, Wilmington, DE 19805 or memorial donations to the Delaware HIV Consortium, 100 West 10th Street, Wilmington DE 19801.Online condolences may be made at www.MealeyFuneralHomes.com
