Robert C. Grabenstein, a longtime resident of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2022. Robert was born on February 14, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA.

He was a graduate of St. James High School, Chester PA and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement in 2002, he worked as a tool keeper for Boeing Helicopters, Ridley Township, PA for 28 years. Robert, a devout Catholic, was a member of Christ our King Parish. He had many hobbies and interests, including fishing, metal detecting, model trains, gardening and summer trips to Ocean City, MD.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan E. (nee Willett) who passed away in 2010; his daughter, Shirl Grabenstein Sotak in 2014; and son, Robert C., Jr. in 1967.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Dawn Hamill (Michael) of Newark, DE and Joan Devaney of Lakewood, Colorado; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.

A chapel service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11:00AM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701. The family would like to express their appreciation to the medical staff of Christiana Care at Home and Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care.
