Robert Louis Dawson, "Bob", 85, of Wilmington, DE passed away on April 25, 2022 with Accent Care in the Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Born in Rochester, NY, Bob was the son of the late William and Irene Dawson. He received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Rochester, and participated in graduate work in chemistry at Harvard University, where he received his Ph.D. in chemistry. Bob worked as a chemist at DuPont for over 30 years until his retirement in 1999. Bob enjoyed playing the guitar since his teenage years. Additionally, he loved photography and practiced this skill throughout his life. Bob and his wife took classes through the Life Long Learning Program at the University of Delaware. Bob enjoyed challenging interests like Sudoku and Rubik's cube. He also loved reading mystery novels. Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeannette A. Dawson; and his sister, Ruth Dawson. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and their spouses; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and two great-great nephews. A visitation will be held on Saturday April 30, 2022 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with funeral services beginning at 11 A.M. at Mealey Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow at Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, 1235 Birmingham Road, West Chester, PA 19382.
