Robert M. "Bob" Joyce, age 66, of Bear, De passed away suddenly on February 16, 2016 at Christiana Hospital.He was born at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE a son of the late Martha (nee Metzelaar) and Edward F. Joyce, Jr. Bob was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served in Viet Nam as an aircraft mechanic. He had been awarded the National Defense Service, Viet Nam Service, Republic of Viet Nam Campaign, Good Conduct and Outstanding Unit Award Medals. He was retired and had formerly been the Vice President of the Courier Division for Brooks Armored Car, and spent 19 years with EcoLab as an Eco Temp Route Specialist. After leaving Ecolab, he was employed at Home Depot. Bob was well known for entertaining as well as his humor and telling a good joke. He loved to travel, enjoyed working with his hands a kind of "Mr. Fixit". He was a compassionate, devoted and loving family man as a wonderful step father and loving husband of 24 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Christine L. (nee Nelson) Joyce, and a sister, Sister Edward Helene Joyce, S.S.J. (Pat Joyce). Bob is survived by his wife, Denise Gsell-Joyce; step son, Ryan Gsell of Bear; a brother, Edward F. Joyce III (Carolyn) of Lewes, DE and his sister, Elaine Joyce Protokowicz (John) of Elsmere, DE., and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE 19702 on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11 am where visitation will be held between 9:30 am until time of service. Interment will follow at All Saints cemetery where military honors will be afforded.
