Obituary

Richard Eric Snyder, age 71, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully on October 4, 2021. Born in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania on November 24, 1949, he was the eldest child of the late Nancy McHenry Snyder and Donald E. Snyder. Rick enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 and served honorably until 1974. After his discharge from military service, he started a career at Delmarva Power, where he worked for nearly 40 years. After his retirement from Delmarva Power, he began a second career at Sandy Brae Laboratories, Inc. Rick was an avid hunter and sport fisherman and a lifelong guitar enthusiast who loved to be in the outdoors with his dogs. He was an amateur photographer, documenting family moments large and small. Over his lifetime, he played football and wrestled for McKean High School, earned a double black belt taekwondo, won the occasional demolition derby, and so many other things that captured his interest. Most of all, Rick relished spending time at home with his family, eating ice cream, and enjoying the company of his children and precious grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. Rick is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Beth; his children, Courtney Heritage (Robert), Sarah Ann Snyder, Jaclyn Richer (Jim), Eric Snyder (Kelly), Erin Reeves (Brandon), R J Snyder (Elisa), Kari Lawler and Patrick Smith (Leann); his grandchildren, Noah, Lily, Tyler, Christopher, Mya, Gabriel, Evelynce, Gillian, and Addyson; his brother, Jeffery Snyder and sister-in-law Kathleen, sister Donna S. Muir and brother-in-law Jim; his nieces and nephews; and his "boys" Angus and Night. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
