Renate E.
Pauksts
May 17, 1935 – November 28, 2025
Mrs. Renate E. Pauksts of Ocean View, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island. She was 90 years old.
Renate was born in Riga, Latvia in 1935. She was born the twin daughter of the late Elfriede (Sperijs) and Janis Snore, and her twin sister Marita. In 1944, she and her twin sister along with their parents, were evacuated from their home country to Germany to avoid the communists occupying Latvia. There they lived in different Displaced Persons' Camps. In 1951 they emigrated to the United States and settled in West Chester, PA. Eventually they moved to Wilmington, DE. Renate continued her education and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1955.
Upon completion of high school, Renate married her husband Albert and began her career as a Systems Analyst for the DuPont Company where she worked for 46 years, retiring in 2001. She also worked as a Tupperware salesperson for Christiana Enterprises and was their top eastern shore sales woman for many years.
Her true passion, however, was the ocean. An avid fisherwoman, she along with her husband Albert, ran and worked a successful charter boat business on their beloved vessel 'Renate' out of Indian River Inlet, Delaware. Her greatest days were spent on the open ocean.
Renate was a former member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Albert Pauksts in 2008 and her twin sister, Marita Snore in 2022.
Renate will be dearly missed by her daughter Anita Smawley and son-in-law Whitmore of Ocean View, DE, as well and many close friends.
Renate's family would like to extend special thanks to Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island as well as Vitas Hospice for the exceptional care they provided for her.
Funeral services will be held on Monday December 8, 2025 at 12 P.M. at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE where friends may call between 11 A.M. to 12 P.M. Burial will be immediately following at Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.
