Regina A. Smolka, aged 90, of Wilmington, DE passed away at her home on May 30, 2023.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Marie T. Smolka and Boleslaw Smolka and her siblings, William, Adam, John, Doris, Mary, and Henrietta. She is survived by brothers Joseph and Stanley (Kathy). She will also be remembered by all of her nieces and nephews. Jean never married or had children, but will be deeply missed by her Niece/Goddaughter and caregiver Michele Nagle (Mark). We are all blessed and grateful for having her with us for so long.

Jean worked hard throughout her life and held many challenging jobs. She retired early and helped care for her mother, Marie and then eventually her brother, Adam and sister, Mary.

She cherished her privacy and quiet time but enjoyed when the family used to get together at the holidays. Jean recently reminisced about past fun times camping with family at Hidden Acres Campground, traveling to see Graceland and Las Vegas, and hitting the road with family members RV'ing. She was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan and loved cheering on her teams. More recently, she enjoyed watching reruns of the Big Bang Theory and ordering all kinds of take out - especially strawberry cheesecake.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 9 at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE from 10 to 11 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to her favorite charity, Disabled American Veterans, 860 Dolwick Drive, Erlanger, KY 41018.
