Raymond E. Halfen, 64 of Newark passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his family.

Ray was born in Wilmington, the son of Carolyn M. (Edwards) and the late Charles W. Halfen. He graduated from Delcastle High School where he studied carpentry and played soccer. Ray's hard work and outgoing personality lead him to a successful career in route sales. He loved many activities including crabbing, fishing, hunting, bowling and spending time with his family at his beach house. He enjoyed following all sports but none more than baseball and the Philadelphia Phillies. A baseball player himself, he also loved watching his children and grandchildren play ball. His love of the sport lead him to umpire at the high school, college, and semi-pro levels.

Ray will be dearly missed by his wife of 42 years, Gininne M. (Crozier) Halfen; his daughters and their husbands, Erin and Rory Schuster of Chesapeake City, MD and Kelly and Woody Woodring of Newark; his son, Raymond E. Halfen, Jr. and his wife, Michelle; his grandchildren, Kendall and Teagan; his mother, Carolyn Halfen of Newark; his sister, Valerie Halfen of Herndon, PA; his brothers and their wives, Charles and Errin Halfen and Steven and Kimberly Halfen, all of Newark. He is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road on Monday, April 24. 2023 from 11 AM to 12 Noon. A service will begin at Noon. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Special Olympics, 619 S College Ave, Newark, DE 19716.
