Phyllis Tampanello, age 91, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2025. Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Agnes and Harold Hobbs. Phyllis graduated from Wilmington High School as a member of the Class of 1951, where she met her future husband, Michael, whom she married in 1955. Phyllis spent time working as a secretary for 18 years at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School where she was fondly known at Mrs. T.  After her retirement, she worked part-time for another 18 years for the New Castle County Parks and Recreation.  Phyllis enjoyed reading, playing bridge with her card groups, and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She enjoyed trips with her friends, summers in Rehoboth, and weekly lunch and dinners with Pat, Jean and Charlotte. She also enjoyed her visits to Delaware Park with her son when he was visiting from North Carolina.  Most importantly, she cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and her two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Michael Joseph Tampanello. She is survived by her children, Nancy and Russell Smith, Susan and Bill Browne, and Michael Jr. and Linda Tampanello; her grandchildren, Stephanie Tadley (Tom), Brendan Shea, Billy Browne, Chris Browne, Russell Smith Jr., Michael Smith; and great grandchildren, Ella and Brooks Tadley.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday February 11th from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 2503 Centerville Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Faithful Friends, 165 Airport Rd, New Castle, DE 19720.
