Age 58, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly at his residence on Sunday, August 28, 2016.Born in Arlington, VA, Paul was the son of the late Louis Eugene and Marion (Rogers) Schmitt. A steward and member of Local 308, he was a Mail Handler for the U.S. Postal Service. His hobbies included fishing, shooting, hunting, crabbing and keeping up with political and current events. He was an excellent cook. A traveler, he owned a second home in Kissimmee, FL, and often visited Disney World and the Outer Banks. He was a recurrent patron of Miller's All You Can Eat Restaurant in Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Mark Schmitt. Paul will be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Ann (Succarotte) Schmitt; his sons, Andrew P. and Eric L. Schmitt, both of Newark; his sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Alex McKniff, of Newark; his nieces, Michelle Harrison and Christina Goode; and great nieces and nephews. He also loved his beagles, Captain and Morgan.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 10:30 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where visitation will begin after 9:30 AM.
