Patricia T. Valiante, age 72, of Wilmington, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Christiana Hospital. Patricia was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Marie (Watson) and James Dougherty. She graduated from St. Anthony of Padua school and attended Goldey Beacom College. Patricia worked for 20 years for the state of Delaware in the Medicaid division before retiring. Patricia loved horse racing, Delaware Park, golfing, and bowling. She bowled on the bowling league at Bowlerama. In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Louis Paul Valiante in 2019 and her siblings, Sr. Mary Joseph (Helen) Dougherty, OSB, Dorothy Dougherty and Marie Taylor (Tom), James and Paul Dougherty. Patricia is survived by her sons, Louis (Michele Powell) Valiante and Christopher J. Valiante, both of Newark; her brothers, Thomas Dougherty of Green Bay, WI and Gerald Dougherty of Wilmington; and her sister, Nancy Snyder (Carl) of Bear. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 10:30-11:30 AM with services beginning at 11:30 AM at Mealey Funeral Home 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be held at All Saints. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Benedictine Sisters, 25 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713.
