Patricia A. Reidy-Smith, age 98 of Millsboro, DE passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Patricia was born in London, England in 1928 to the late Millicent (Stroud) and Sydney Burehall. After completing high school, she earned her associates degree from a technical college in business administration. She began her career with British Airways in business administration. She moved to New York in the United States in the 1950's. She worked for several different companies within the United States before eventually going to work for E.I. DuPont, where she worked as an Administration Assistant and eventually worked her way up to a Marketing Assistant, before retiring in the late 1990's.
Patricia had many hobbies throughout her life. She loved to travel all across the world in her early years. Some of her favorite memories were aboard cruise ships that took her to places such as New Zealand, Australia, and other countries. She was also a serious environmentalist and loved to be out in nature whenever she had the opportunity. Patricia was also a World War II survivor and remembers spending countless times in a bomb shelter with her mother. She would often tell stories of the times they would see the German planes flying over their home, had very little food to eat, and very little heat.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband Samuel Smith of 18 years. She is also survived by her 3 stepchildren who she grew very close to; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701 on Tuesday July 7, 2026, at 2 P.M for funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions to either Trinity Episcopal Church 105 N. Bridge Street, Elkton, MD 21921 or St. Mark’s Episcopal church 110 W. State Street, Millsboro, DE 19966.
