Patricia O'Malley, age 77, of Newark, DE passed away surrounded by her family on March 26, 2026. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Patricia was the daughter of the late Cecilia (Vargas) and Antonio Leon. She immigrated at the age of 8 along with her family to New York and settled in the neighborhood of Woodside in Queens, NY. She graduated from Newtown High School and soon after met and married Patrick. They later moved to Newark, DE where she worked in childcare for many years. Patricia loved frequenting the Dollar Store and even spent time working there during her later years. She enjoyed spending time in Bethany Beach with her family and was an avid yorkie and bunny lover. Patricia was a selfless and kind person who was fortunate enough to find Christ throughout her life.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Patrick J. O'Malley; her children, David and Kristina O'Malley; her sisters, Maria Leon, Elsie Hittelman, and Gloria Latona; her beloved dog, Jasmine; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday April 2nd from 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. with funeral services to begin at 11:30 A.M at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the SPCA.
