Patricia Kathleen (Johnson) Clarke, 61 of Hockessin was reunited with her beloved husband, James, on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Patty was born in Wilmington, DE, the daughter of the late Jeanne (Loughery) and George E. Johnson. Patty was the seventh of eight children and entered this world on St. Patrick's Day. While attending Padua Academy, she met the love of her life, Jim, at a Salesianum dance during her Sophomore year. The two of them went on to share 41 wonderful years of marriage. Patty graduated from Padua Academy ('79) and Immaculata University ('83). After graduating in just two and half years, Patty began a successful career in the banking/financial industry working for First Chicago, PNC, and MBNA. She retired from Bank of America at the age of 55. Patty was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, attended adoration, and volunteered making sandwiches for the Emmanuel Dining Room.

Patty will always be remembered as the eternal caregiver and gracious hostess. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, sister, aunt, godmother, neighbor, friend and most recently a fantastic grandmother. Her caring heart and maternal love were best exemplified by so many years of daily care and commitment to her daughter, Amanda's special needs. Family was paramount to Patty and for many years she organized summer vacations bringing together generations of family in Avalon and Outer Banks, to name a few.

In addition to her parents, Patty was predeceased by her sisters, Jeanne, Geraldine and Rebecca; her brother, Terence and her husband, James Edward Clarke in 2021.

Patty is survived by her daughter, Amanda M. Clarke of Hockessin; her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Mary Kate Clarke and their son, William James, of Philadelphia, PA; her sisters, Mary Ann Johnson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, N. Gael Deldeo (Doc) of Hockessin and Margaret Johnson (Alan Sheppard) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin on Monday morning from 11 AM to 12:15 PM.  Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 PM. In accordance with CDC guidelines, if not fully vaccinated, please wear a mask. Burial will be private. To honor Patty's dedication to her faith, in lieu of flowers, the family would welcome contributions to St. Paul's Church, 1010 W. 4 ^th Street / Wilmington, DE or stpaulchurchde.org.
