On Sunday, December 13, 2015, Norman Lee Backus, son of Eldred and Mildred Backus, went to his home with the Lord. Norman was born on December 21, 1942, in Charleston, West Virginia. He later relocated to make his permanent home in Delaware.Norman is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Annette Backus, and sons Norman Lee Backus Jr. and Brian Wayne Backus. He has two grandchildren, Shyenne and Alexander Backus, and one great-granddaughter, Kylie Backus. He has four living siblings: his brother, Shelvey Backus, and sisters, Joyce Boyd, Mayzella Braswell, and Erma Francioni. His oldest brother, Wetzel Backus, is deceased.Norman served his country in the United States Air Force from February 1, 1964, until January 31, 1968. Norman used his electrical and mechanical skills in many different jobs and also quietly served those around him in his church, job, and community.Friends and family are invited to funeral services on Friday, December 18th at 11 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where visitation will begin at 10 AM.
