Nathaniel Walter LaRue, Sr. (Walt)Age 88, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, surrounded by his loving family.Born in Boothwyn, PA, Walter was the son of the late Catherine (Dever) and Morris W. LaRue, Sr. He served his country proudly in the US Navy during World War II in the Atlantic, Asia Pacific and in South America on the USS Catclaw, Lejeune and Fresno. He was employed by DuPont Edgemoor where he worked as an operator and painter for over 33 years until his retirement. His memberships included the Five Points Fire Company, where he was a life member, the Disabled American Veterans, the former VFW Post #3257 and the West End Rod & Gun Club.Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Cecilia Ann (Rybicki) LaRue in 2007, as well as his first baby, Patricia. He was also predeceased by his brothers Morris, Jr. and Frank. He will be dearly missed by his children and their spouses, Mary Outten (Rob), Sandy Dowling (Bill), Terri White, and Butch LaRue (Michele). He is survived by his grandchildren Shannon, Michael (Joanna), Kevin, Bill, Ron, Jackie, Sheri and Mark and great grandson Beau. Also surviving are his siblings, Bette Hoffman, Edna McGee, Myrtle Blizzard, Bobby LaRue, Jean Tryens, Catherine Garvine, Emily Lareau and Ronnie LaRue. Walt will also be greatly missed by his good friend, Jimmy Dove.Friends and family are invited to funeral services on Monday, March 9th at 12:30 pm at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where friends are invited to visitation at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
