Obituary

Nadine D. Armstrong, age 88, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on March 8th, 2024.

Born March 29th, 1935, in West York, PA, she was the daughter of Alice M. (Krout) and Martin H. Doll.

Nadine attended St. Matthews Catholic School and St. Elizabeth's High School, in Wilmington DE.  Awarded a scholarship to Mount Saint Agnes College in Baltimore MD (which later merged with Loyola College), she earned a B.S. in Medical Technology.  She received a fellowship at St. John's University in New York, and while working as a research assistant, earned her Master of Microbiology.

Nadine worked for Mary Immaculate Hospital in New York as a Medical Technology Microbiologist. She raised her family in Brooklyn NY, Rochester NY, & Fairfield CT. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Rochester NY, and Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Fairfield CT. Eventually moving back to Delaware, she retired from the Prices Corner JCPenney.

She was a devoted member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Wilmington, and a longtime member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. Nadine enjoyed reading, keeping up with medical science, blue birds, and science fiction. She took pleasure in spending time with friends. She loved gardening and researching her family's ancestry. She was the matriarch of her family and would do anything for them. Nadine cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is loved immensely and will be greatly missed.

Nadine is survived by her daughters: Kathleen M. (Robert, Sr.) Yacucci of Wilmington, DE., Barbara N. (James) Labbe of Hudson, NH., Audrey E. Brunetti of Stratford, CT; and son: Charles M. (Sherri Steale) Armstrong, III of Debary, FL; grandchildren: Robert Yacucci, Jr., Michael Yacucci, Patrick (Jessica) Labbe, Daniel (Mariah) Labbe, Elise Labbe, Quentin Brunetti, Nathan Brunetti, Stephen Lighthouse and Alex Lighthouse; and her great grandchildren: Porter Labbe, Lucy Nadine Labbe, Scarlett Labbe, and Aubrie Lighthouse.

A visitation will be held on Monday March 18th, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 A.M. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 901 E Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE 19804. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
