Milton Lee
Lazear, Jr.
July 21, 1929 – February 18, 2024
Milton Lee Lazear, Jr. age 94, of Newark, DE (formerly of Dunnellon, Florida and Medina, Ohio), passed away surrounded by his family on February 18, 2024.
Born in Wheeling, WV he was the son of the late Milton Lee & Irene (Greene) Lazear. Milton was predeceased by his wife Regina K. (Schweizer) Lazear and son in law, Rev. Jon Fleming. Milton and Regina met in their teens at Oglebay Park Summer Camp, in Wheeling, WV. Milton was a 1947 graduate of Wheeling High School, a 1951 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University where he earned a degree in Chemistry, and he also earned his master's degree in Zoology from West Virginia University. Milton served in the Army during the post WWII, US Army occupation of Germany from March 16th, 1953 - April 12th, 1955 as a PFC-1st Class. While in Germany for 8 months, he served for the Central Area Command & then for the Western Area Command. His Army jobs consisted of being a Food Inspector and assisting the Quartermaster(s) in various functions on the bases. His most memorable time was as an Army Hospital & Veterinarian Medic, (889th Medical Detachment) working with & caring for the guard dogs on the German bases he was assigned to. Upon his separation, he received an Honorable Discharge and was transferred to the Army Medical Reserve for an additional 8 years of service.
Milton received the following Medals as part of his military service:

·National Defense Service Medal
Milton was first employed by The H.W. Madison Company, Medina OH. This was later acquired by The J.M. Smucker Company, Orville, Ohio, where he held the position of Director of Quality Control. He retired in 1994. Shortly thereafter, Milton & Regina retired to their new home in Rainbow Springs, Dunnellon, Florida. They lived there for 21 years, until their final relocation to Newark, DE. They always enjoyed the many visits of their children and 13 grandchildren, showing them the fun things to do at Rainbow Springs Park, Homosassa Springs Park and NASA, Cape Canaveral. Both attended many of grandchildren's school musicals and sporting activities.
Milton always had a wide interest in antique cars and even brought home a 1939 Auto Union Wanderer Cabriolet; precursor of the Audi. Milton and Regina could be seen driving around Medina in his antique car.
Milton is survived by his children and their spouses, Diane Fleming, Richard & Evelyn Lazear, Dave & Terrie Lazear, and Marsha & Brian Coffee; his grandchildren, Todd Fleming; Brittany (Lazear) & Callen Hecker, David Jr., Johnny & Gabbi (Cherry), Christopher & Matthew Lazear; Lee, Richard & Sophie Lazear; Andrew, Mitchell, Zachary & Landon Coffee and great-grandson Callen Hecker; brothers, Vincent & Betty Lazear; Nelson & Mary Lou Lazear.
Interment services will be held March 27th, at 1.P.M at the Delaware Veteran's Cemetery in Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, www.fsspolgs.org.
