With broken hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of Mildred Dawson, age 101, on March 18, 2025. Surrounded by family, she was peacefully embraced by the angels and reunited with loved ones that passed.

She was born on May 13, 1923, to the late Evan and Margaret (Pyle) Hanby. She graduated from P.S. DuPont High School. While enjoying her passion of roller skating, she met her loving husband, Harry, and they raised two daughters. Vacations with friends and their families in Wildwood, New Jersey were some of the best times we'll always remember. Her years working in the Colonial School District were some of her happiest years. Atlantic City and Delaware Park became her 'lucky' new adventures. She also lived in Oklahoma and had memorable times with her daughter, Sandy and her family.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Harry, mother, father, brothers - Joseph, Kenny, Clifford, Tommy, and Russell, and son-in-law Larry Burdick. She is survived by her daughters - Sandy Burdick, Shirl Viehman (Fred), her granddaughters - Janel Viehman, Cindy McCurdy, grandsons - Kris Viehman, Keith Burdick, Kevin Burdick (Jacque), great-grandchildren - Autry Houck, Dawson and Mason McCurdy, Makenah and Hayden Burdick and great-grandchildren, Savannah Burdick, sister-in-law Ramona Harlow and many nieces and nephews.

Millie was known as Smiley. She will be loved, cherished and forever missed.

A memorial service will be held at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE on Tuesday, March 25 at 12:30pm. Visitation will begin at 11:30am. The family would like to thank the staff at "Complete Care at Brackenville" in Hockessin for their care and warm friendship. Also, a special thanks to Vitas Hospice for their comforting care and support.
