Migdalia "Miqui" Ambrose, age 75, of Newark, DE, passed away September 4, 2024. Miqui was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Brigida (Ortiz) and Filiberto Rivera. She spent most of her childhood in Brooklyn, NY with her parents and siblings and attended Brooklyn College where she graduated with a degree in education. She joined her parents when they retired and moved back to Puerto Rico. It was there where she met the love of her life, William Ambrose, an engineer who was on assignment in the town of Aguadilla. The two hit it off quickly, fell in love, married and settled down in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Will's work brought them to Delaware and they've called Newark home for the last 35 years. Miqui devoted her life to enriching her community, first as a dedicated first-grade teacher and later as a compassionate registered nurse. Her impact extended beyond people to animals, providing a loving and safe home to many pets throughout her life. From Socks to Mama Cat to Buddy and Buddy 2, she loved her furry companions dearly and they returned her love unconditionally. Miqui's warmth touched everyone she met. She had a gift for connecting with people, always ready with advice, a compliment, or a lighthearted joke. Miqui's legacy of friendship, kindness and service will be remembered by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Miqui was predeceased by her brother Hector O. Rivera. She is survived by her loving husband Will, her dogs Ruby, Heidi and Bri; her sister Nilda Rivera, her brother Phil Rivera, and her many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00PM. Burial will be private.
