Michael John Willey, Jr., 47 of Wilmington passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Christiana Hospital after a courageous battle with a respiratory illness.Mike was born in Wilmington, the son of Lorraine (Zingo) and Michael J. Willey, Sr. He was a student at Salesianum School and graduated in 1986 from St. Elizabeth High School and then attended Delaware Technical and Community College. He was an exceptional athlete in his youth, playing first base in Little League and goalie in hockey leagues making many All Star teams. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing music.Mike was very hardworking and usually worked two jobs to provide for his family, never complaining. He worked as a supervisor for General Electric for 3 years, W.L. Gore for 12 years and prior to that for his family's business Zingo's Markets.In addition to his parents, Lorraine and Michael Willey, Sr. of Wilmington, Mike is survived by his son, Brandon Michael of Newark, his brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Michelle of Newark and his uncle, Michael Zingo and his wife, Maureen of Landenberg, PA and Naples, FL.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11 AM, where friends may call after 10 AM.
